Touré Kunda: "N'Doungou" (1991) 7" / Trema / 60291 / France (Promo) Description: Promotional single for appearance "en concert a l'Olympia les 6, 7 et 8 mars 1991", with two versions of "Ndoungou". The shorter track is an edit of the longer one. The studio version of "Ndoungou" was originally released on Salam. This single version is similar to the live version on Sounké, and the musicians credited are the same, but there are no audience sounds and there are other differences. This version appears to be a rehearsal or alternate studio recording, and is otherwise unreleased. |

"É'mma" on each of these singles is a unique version similar to the live version. The 7" version of "É'mma" also appeared on the compilation Tropic Tonic No. 2 (see Touré Kunda :: Other Releases). According to the book Touré Kunda by Steinberg and Desouches, the 7" version was re-recorded in October 1984. The 12" version of "É'mma" also appeared on a bonus 12" single included with the UK LP release of Live Paris-Ziguinchor (see Touré Kunda :: Studio & Live Albums) and on the compilation New Africa (see Touré Kunda :: Other Releases). The notes for that compilation indicate that this version of "Martyrs" was recorded in 1982 during the sessions for Touré Kunda. The track sounds live, although there are no audience sounds. |
